How I write a paper:

8:00am week 1: Tell myself I’m going to write it.

8:01am: Push it off for a week. The motivational power of a looming deadline should not be underestimated.

11am week 2: Tell myself I’m going to write the paper tonight.

7:45pm: Take a nap so that I’ll be able to stay up to write the paper.

8:15pm: Visit some funny websites to wake myself up from the nap.

8:30pm: Make myself a peppermint latte, and find the ibuprofen in case I get the shakes or a headache.

8:50pm: Turn on all forms of electronic communication including (but not limited to) AIM, Skype, MSN, e-mail, ANGEL, cell phone, and blog. This way I can be interrupted at anytime in case someone wants to talk.

9:00pm: Read everyone’s away messages.

9:02pm: Post on blog.

9:10pm: Resign myself to the fact that I have to write this paper. If time allows repeat the whole process. If not, begin working on the paper while engineering as many interruptions as possible.

3:45am: Hopefully the paper is done. Go to sleep and don’t let anyone wake me up till at least 9am.

Ontological equality yet economic subordination...that's what I wrote my 12pg theology paper on a few nights ago (stayed up till 3:30 to write it!) So, I've attached it here as some light reading for you:

Haha, you thought I was serious for a second didn't you? Don't worry, I wouldn't torture you like that! But while reading through hundreds of boring theology books (alright, it was only 6...still!) I discovered that a past theological scholar (my pastor) had left some interesting notes in one of the books...

But seriously, I have a ton of reading to do, so don't be surprised if I don't post much in the next three weeks. See these books? I have to read all of those (in addition to my normal class homework), and write three 10-18pg research reports citing them, by Nov. 14th!! Scary thought. On Nov. 13th I'll probably be in a state of total and absolute panic.

On a slightly better note...we had a really pretty sun rise the other day :-)

Cameroon Presentation

Answer: Even though she will always be in your room, don't count on her to be able to unlock the door for you.

Answer: Keep it up! Maybe it can explain how to become a "Discarded Image" because C.S. Lewis certainly doesn't.

Answer: Take along a bunch of other people who have no clue what you are talking about.

What do you do when ... you have to read a book with a 4 inch binding and size 10 font?
Answer: Push it off till tomorrow. Perhaps by then the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics will kick in and the book will either "entropy" into less reading, or you will have more "free energy" to expend.

Finally, a post about J. Beaners! As a result of our internets issues (and partly because I never seem to study when I'm home) I've taken to studying at Beaners. They have a nice comfy couch, free internet access, and GREAT coffee. Their "Peppermint Patti Mocha Latte" is to die for! For all you flavored coffee lovers out there (and those of you who dislike coffee because of...well the taste of coffee) this has got to be the best one out there...it tastes like heaven :-p Ethan says that Black Djarms taste like heaven, but I think this latte has them beat. If your into straight brewed coffee, they have a "Pumpkin Spice" coffee that tastes really good too. :o) Some people have asked "Don't they mind that you're there all the time?" To be honest I'm not really sure. The manager has informed me that I've become a permanent part of the furniture, and he's unsure if I ever leave at night...I do.

Matt and his dad came up from Pennsylvania!! They biked up last night and are going camping. While they were here we took Matt up Potanipo Hill to find the geocache...or at least look for it. Whether he would have found it without help from Jeremy and I is doubtful = P But he tried! He gets points for at least knowing how to work the GPS...and he managed to stand on top of the geocache...just not notice it.

Stephen says: "I had a fun adventure with Matt's dad. We rode 22 miles per hour!! Suddenly racing, racing, racing down the driveway! We were going 'whooo, whooo!' And almost crashed into the Great Wall of China! Then he switched the gears and we stopped slowly, slowly. Then we RACED back to the house!"

Hmmm well I had my first college party (Tim's 16th!) but I'll have to post the pictures and comments for that another time because we're having internet/computer problems at home. We exceeded our allotted internet bandwidth, which means that our internet is down until we can get our weekly average bandwidth use below a certain limit. So I work at a cafe all day. It's a nice cafe...I just hope I don't have to live here all semester! Yesterday I locked my keys in the car so I almost had to sleep here...

Life has been good I guess. I'm keeping on top of school work (I think being away from home helps with that), but I'm also kind of lonely and board. I feel like I'm lost among a bunch of online students who are all the same. So I've been trying to be different in my own way. I decided to become a vegetarian just to be unique (how that makes me different when I don't even eat with anyone but my family I don't know...).

I also decided to be a democrat for a day. I'd be one all the time but I can't quite bring myself to the 50% agree mark. But, just so everyone is clear, I am NOT a republican, and if I lived in Massachusetts I'd vote for Patrick. End of story I'm a registered independent and I don't like any of the people running in the November election. :-p

Yesterday I was an Armenian (as apposed to a Calvinist) but I'm not entirely sure if I'm going to stay that way because I haven't read the book about Armenians yet. I've read the Calvinist book and lecture and I disagreed with some of their stuff, but I might read the Armenian stuff and disagree with that more, who knows.

Soooooo since this is kind of just a rambling post because I'm board and I want to talk to people (but there's no one online right now to talk to) I guess I'll end it. ;o)

P.S. OH Matt and his dad are biking up here tomorrow! Yay, people!! Not that my family isn't made up of people, but when you're around them all the time...

Ok boys and girls, PHC DL students get to go to the zoo too...bet you didn't know that! So, today we will be visiting the Shepherds Brooke Wildlife Refuge as well as the indoor petting zoo.

As we approach the wildlife, it's important that we drive at snail speed so as not to offend the turtles:

Here at the Shepherds Brooke Wildlife Refuge, we believe in offering animals plenty of open space and natural habitats to withdraw into...which is why you can't see many of them:

One exception may be spotted on the left. It is a small, loud, nut gathering creature:

Now we move on to the "Indoor Petting Zoo" section of our center. Franklin will be your guide:

There are lots of friendly animals to pet including "Bunny," "Miss Woolly," and "Snuffy":

We also have a protective mother tiger ("JAG!" aka "Joy-Joy") and her cubs:

So all of my friends have cool college lives, with cool pics, and facebook, and all those sorts of things. Not to be left out, I've decided to show you guys what the PHC Distance learning experience is like :o)
